Minnesota Birth Center is an independently owned and operated free-standing birth center and health clinic led by certified nurse midwives in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in labor & delivery strongly preferred
- Licensed (APRN) to practice midwifery in Minnesota
- NRP, BLS, DEA and AMCB certification
- Eligible to be credentialed at Abbott and United Hospitals
- Committed to and passionate about the philosophy of out-of-hospital birth.
- Adept at interpersonal communication, clinical CNM skills, and cooperative teamwork
- Flexible to adapt to the ever-changing healthcare environment
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work a mix of clinic and call shifts
- Call shifts are generally 24 hours and count as 2 units of work.
- Clinic shifts are closer to 8 hours and count as 1 unit of work.
- Facilitate orientation events for prospective clients and circle care for prenatal and postpartum families
- Provide pregnancy care, including prenatal, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum
- Provide routine preventive care, including screening, annual exams, contraceptive initiation and management, and risk assessment
- Attend quarterly all-staff meetings, and CNM meetings held every 3 weeks
- Participate in three clinical drills per year
- Complete birth statistics documentation using AABC’s Perinatal Data Registry (PDR)
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs repeatedly
- Must be flexible enough to attend births in a variety of positions - kneeling/squatting/waterbirth/hands and knees/etc.
