Certified Nurse Practitioner
Position Summary:
The Certified Nurse Practitioner provides advanced medical assessment, treatment, and ongoing care for individuals receiving withdrawal management services. This position is responsible for evaluating clients experiencing substance withdrawal, prescribing and monitoring medications, managing acute and chronic health conditions, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure safe and effective care throughout the detoxification process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, including physical assessments, history reviews, and withdrawal risk assessments upon admission.
- Diagnose and manage acute medical conditions related to substance use and withdrawal.
- Prescribe, adjust, and monitor medications for withdrawal symptom management in accordance with agency protocols and state/federal regulations.
- Provide ongoing medical monitoring for clients during detoxification, including follow-up assessments and treatment plan updates.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, counselors, case managers, and other providers to coordinate integrated treatment services.
- Review laboratory results, diagnostic testing, and medical records to support clinical decision-making.
- Respond to urgent medical issues and provide intervention for complications related to withdrawal or co-occurring health concerns.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record, including assessments, medication orders, progress notes, and discharge recommendations.
- Provide education to clients regarding withdrawal symptoms, medication-assisted treatment, relapse prevention, and ongoing healthcare needs.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable standards, including Ohio Board of Nursing, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and accreditation requirements.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) in the state of Ohio.
- Prescriptive authority and DEA certification required.
- Experience in addiction medicine, detoxification, behavioral health, or emergency medicine preferred.
- Knowledge of withdrawal management protocols, medication-assisted treatment, and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in substance use disorder treatment, residential detox, or crisis stabilization settings.
- Familiarity with ASAM criteria and withdrawal management levels of care.
- Experience with EHR documentation and regulatory compliance in behavioral health settings.
Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
