Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support patients with specialized needs including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and behavioral health considerations.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and medication administration under supervision.
- Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care settings like Level I Trauma Centers or ICU environments to ensure seamless patient service.
- Document patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while respecting HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including emergency medicine, ICU, PICU), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient care across geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and infectious disease contexts.
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) and demonstrate proficiency in infection control practices.
- Prior experience with medical-surgical procedures, medication administration, catheter care, and vital signs monitoring preferred.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with patients of all ages and individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
