Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support clinical teams by preparing patients for examinations or procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Assist with medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by observing changes in condition, reporting concerns promptly, and documenting medical records thoroughly.
- Work across various hospitals.
- Engage with patients experiencing complex needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia care, memory support, or behavioral health challenges to promote comfort and safety.
- Demonstrate proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate medical documentation and seamless patient service delivery.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to support acute care, post-acute recovery, pediatric or geriatrics services, ensuring a holistic approach to patient well-being.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent hospital experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient monitoring and basic life support techniques.
- Experience with specialized care such as hospice services, infectious disease management, or working with individuals with disabilities enhances your ability to provide comprehensive support.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is preferred for efficient medical documentation and patient data management.
- Exposure to pediatric or behavioral health environments adds versatility to your caregiving skills.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous.
