Duties

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
  • Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards
  • Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory impairments through tailored engagement and safety protocols
  • Assist with clinical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, aseptic techniques, and wound care in various settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and home care environments
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care units like ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Level I Trauma Centers, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or behavioral health units to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Support patients with infectious disease precautions and infection control practices to maintain a safe environment for everyone involved

Skills

  • Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level II trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient safety protocols including basic life support (BLS) certification
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and record keeping
  • Experience caring for individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs; expertise in dementia and memory care is highly valued
  • Ability to operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assistive devices safely and effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with healthcare teams and provide compassionate patient service
  • Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality at all times
