Certified Nursing Assistant

Job Summary

Duties

  • Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
  • Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring timely communication of changes to nursing staff.
  • Support infection control practices by maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care and wound management.
  • Assist with medical procedures including phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration under supervision, and basic life support when necessary.
  • Document patient information meticulously within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various settings such as hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), assisted living facilities, hospice care, or outpatient clinics to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care.
  • Engage with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia through specialized memory and behavioral health care techniques to promote comfort and safety.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) recognized by the state or relevant licensing body.
  • Prior experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU or Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe patient care.
  • Experience in specialized areas such as Alzheimer’s/dementia care, geriatrics, pediatrics, or behavioral health is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, lifting using Hoyer lifts or similar equipment, and assisting with patient mobility needs.
