Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to enhance comfort and independence.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medical teams by preparing patients for examinations or procedures, including positioning and basic equipment setup.
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or memory care requirements.
- Administer medications under supervision, following strict aseptic techniques and HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Assist with medical documentation and maintain detailed records of patient care activities in EMR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids to promote safe patient handling and prevent injury.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including long-term care facilities, hospitals (ICU, trauma centers), assisted living communities, or home care settings.
- Familiarity with critical care procedures such as ICU or Level I Trauma Center protocols; experience with acute care or emergency medicine is highly valued.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for accurate patient assessment and safe procedures.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient records management.
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach to working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures when required and support medication administration following prescribed protocols.
- Experience caring for patients with infectious diseases, post-acute conditions, or in hospice settings; familiarity with geriatrics and dementia care enhances your effectiveness.
