Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Personal Accountant to join our dynamic financial team. Duties
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and accounts receivable/payable management to maintain precise financial records.
- Perform cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing to support strategic planning initiatives.
- Oversee regulatory reporting requirements related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other compliance frameworks.
- Facilitate internal audits and assist with external auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Support payroll processing, tax preparation, and tax experience to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Analyze financial concepts such as accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and securities law implications for various projects.
- Mentor junior staff members in technical accounting practices, non-profit accounting standards, and best practices in financial management.
- Collaborate across departments on account analysis, bank reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and financial services to optimize organizational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required; additional credentials like CMA or CFA are a plus.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP standards.
- Extensive familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, public accounting or private equity environments.
- Strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements and securities law regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis including pivot tables, formulas, and financial modeling techniques.
- Knowledge of tax laws related to wills, trusts & estate law is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately.
- Effective mentoring abilities with a focus on developing team members’ technical skills in areas like auditing, financial statement preparation, and regulatory reporting.
