Certified Pharmacy Tech

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Tech to join our Clarion team!

Location: Clarion Hospital Pharmacy, but may float between Clarion and Belmond as needed.

Full-Time

Schedule includes M-F 8a-5p and 9-12 on Saturdays once a month

Qualifications:

• Current National Certification Registration required per Iowa Law at hire
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter within 6 months of hire
• CPHT certification within 1 year of hire

Job Duties:

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, a certified pharmacy technician may perform the following technical functions delegated by the supervising pharmacist in addition to any of the functions authorized for a pharmacy support person:

• Perform packaging, manipulative, or repetitive tasks relating to the processing of a prescription or medication order in a licensed pharmacy

• Loading Automated Dispensing devices

• Preparing Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Sterile Preparations

• Perform all duties involved to refill prescriptions from gathering patient information, refill authorizations and contacting prescribers if necessary

• Inspect drug supplies provided and controlled by an Iowa-licensed pharmacy

• Count prescription drug dosage forms

• Assist patients with billing/accounts

• Operate cash register

• Check stock on a regular basis

• Enter data into accounts receivable and issue monthly statements

• Maintain department records, reports and files as required

• Attend meetings as required

• Participate in establishment of quality improvement as required.
