POSITION SUMMARY:
Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacist in dispensing medications in accordance with regulations and standards provided by the Board of Pharmacy and other State and Federal departments. The Pharmacy Technician must have knowledge of areas of practice specific to geriatrics and long-term care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate
- Two years’ experience preferred
- Must hold current state license
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Must be dependable and able to show up to work for scheduled times.
- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person effectively.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support pharmacist staff in accordance with regulations.
- Receive and interpret physicians’ orders and fill accordingly.
- Organize medications for pharmacists by preparing labels, calculating quantities, and filling bubble card.
- Submit insurance claims and communicate with Medicare and private insurance companies as needed.
- Count and package medications to fulfill physicians’ orders.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Stock medications and supplies and maintain organization of inventory.
- Manage inventory by anticipating needs, placing orders, verifying receipt of orders, and removing expired drugs.
- Maintain and follow all Louisiana state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to filling prescriptions.
- Use computer software and programs for documentation.
STANDARDS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Maintains compliance with all Company policies and procedures. Strict adherence to Company Code of Conduct.
- Must comply with Medicare guidelines and state requirements for licensure.
- Attend continued Education Courses approved by the state of Louisiana and in your appropriate field with frequency according to state regulations.
- Attire is neat, clean, and appropriate for the work environment.
- Maintains confidentiality of all facility and resident information at all times, as observed by peers and management.
- Reports to work on time and meets acceptable standard for attendance. Notifies supervisor in advance of planned absences according to predetermined methods.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
