Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Certified Professional Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes used for billing, reimbursement, and record-keeping. Your expertise ensures the integrity of medical records and supports seamless communication between healthcare providers and payers. The ideal candidate is passionate about precision, compliance, and improving healthcare documentation processes, contributing to efficient revenue cycle management and high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10 (Tenth Revision), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes with accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure all coding aligns with current coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures to support precise coding practices.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently to document coding activities and update patient records.
  • Support medical billing and collection processes by providing accurate coded data for claims submission.
  • Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, including changes in ICD coding systems and reimbursement policies.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Professional Coder (such as CPC from AAPC or equivalent credential).
  • Proven experience in medical coding within a healthcare setting, including familiarity with medical billing and collections.
  • Strong understanding of DRG systems, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and managing medical records efficiently.
  • Knowledge of medical office operations, billing procedures, and insurance claim processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers and billing teams. Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
