Certified Public Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our growing home improvement company and lead the accounting department. This role is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial records, reporting accuracy, budgeting support, compliance, and overall accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, organizational leadership, and the ability to maintain accurate financial processes within a fast-paced residential services environment.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, and supporting company leadership with reliable financial reporting and analysis. Experience within the home improvement, construction, remodeling, or residential services industry is highly preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards
  • Oversee daily accounting department operations including:
  • General ledger management
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Job costing
  • Account reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reporting
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for ownership and executive leadership
  • Monitor company expenses, profitability, and financial performance
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Manage tax planning, filings, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and project accounting for home improvement contracts
  • Conduct detailed account analysis and reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
  • Oversee commission reporting and financial tracking related to sales performance
  • Utilize accounting and business management software such as:
  • QuickBooks
  • Sage
  • Buildertrend
  • ServiceTitan
  • ERP or CRM platforms
  • Support process improvements to increase accounting efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and records for audits and compliance purposes
  • Collaborate with department managers regarding budgets, expense tracking, and financial reporting
  • Assist leadership with financial analysis and operational reporting as needed

Qualifications

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 5+ years of accounting or financial management experience preferred
  • Experience in home improvement, construction, remodeling, roofing, HVAC, plumbing, or residential services industries strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting standards and financial reporting practices
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar financial platforms
  • Strong understanding of job costing and project-based accounting
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience managing audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills preferred

Pay: $52,000.00 - $62,400.00 per year
