Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex financial data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing expert accounting support across various sectors including non-profit, governmental, and corporate environments. Your expertise will help uphold the integrity of financial reporting, support strategic decision-making, and maintain adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and account analysis to maintain precise financial records.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and collections.
- Perform detailed financial data analysis using Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, data analysis tools, and spreadsheets for forecasting and budgeting purposes.
- Oversee general ledger accounting activities and journal entries to ensure proper financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules, documentation, and liaising with auditors.
- Ensure regulatory compliance through adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and other relevant laws such as securities law, estate law, and governmental regulations.
- Assist with tax preparation, Wills, trusts & estate law considerations, and other legal aspects related to financial management.
- Utilize various financial software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial systems to streamline accounting processes.
- Mentor junior staff members on accounting best practices, technical concepts, and professional development initiatives.
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required with proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and regulatory compliance accounting principles.
- Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel mastery essential), including Excel data analysis techniques like VLOOKUP functions.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including financial statement preparation, interpretation of financial reports, cash flow analysis, budget management, and forecasting.
- Experience with SOX compliance processes and securities law regulations is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation accurately.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for reporting purposes.
- Effective communication skills for mentoring team members and collaborating across departments.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
