Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in respiratory therapy and be proficient in various clinical settings, including critical care and pediatrics. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients across different age groups, ensuring optimal respiratory function and patient safety.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate respiratory status and needs.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and ventilator management.
- Perform airway management procedures and assist in intubation as required.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and response to therapy, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings to develop effective care plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and treatment outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and home care strategies.
- Participate in emergency medicine protocols and critical care interventions as needed.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and advancements in respiratory therapy practices.
Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Experience in hospital medicine, particularly in critical care environments such as ICU or PICU.
- Proficiency in ventilator management and airway management techniques.
- Knowledge of basic life support (BLS) protocols and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) preferred.
- Familiarity with pulmonology principles and acute care practices.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to interpret vital signs accurately.
- Experience working within a Level I or Level II trauma center is advantageous.
- Background in pediatrics, geriatrics, or outpatient clinic experience is a plus.
