Pay: $35/hr
Schedule: Flexible – family willing to adjust schedule to accommodate tutor availability

Job Description

We are seeking a Georgia-certified teacher to provide in-home educational support for a 6-year-old nonverbal autistic student in Macon, GA (31220).

The student is currently being homeschooled through the Georgia Promise Scholarship program. The family is looking for an experienced educator who can help guide early learning instruction and provide structured support in foundational phonics, early literacy (ELA), and basic math skills.

The student is nonverbal and working at the foundational level, using a variety of learning supports including technology tools, printed curriculum, matching activities, and puzzles. The ideal tutor will be patient, creative, and comfortable working with students who communicate and learn in different ways.

Responsibilities

• Provide early literacy instruction focused on phonics and foundational ELA skills
• Support development of basic math concepts appropriate for kindergarten level
• Use interactive, visual, and hands-on learning strategies
• Build a structured learning routine that complements the homeschool curriculum
• Encourage engagement and confidence through patient, supportive instruction

Qualifications

• Active and valid Georgia teaching certification required
• Experience working with young learners or students with autism
• Background in special education, early childhood education, or elementary instruction strongly preferred
• Comfortable adapting lessons for nonverbal communication and different learning styles
• Patient, creative, and reliable

Schedule Details

The family has flexibility and is willing to adjust the student’s schedule to accommodate tutoring sessions.

Current schedule considerations:

• ABA therapy most days 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, free after 3:30PM
• Fridays available after 12:30 PM
• Additional times during the week may be arranged as needed

About the Role

This is an independent contractor position with minimal paperwork, online time submission, and twice-monthly pay. Tutors who join our team may also be contacted about additional opportunities based on availability and expertise.
