Chairside Dental Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic by providing excellent patient care and assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental practices, infection control protocols, and excellent communication skills to foster a positive environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared in advance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
  • Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse, as needed.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, disinfecting surfaces, and ensuring all supplies are stocked.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of medical terminology.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling medical coding when necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with the dental team to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.

Skills

  • Proficiency in infection control practices and knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Understanding of medical terminology relevant to general dentistry.
  • Experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly desirable.
  • Ability to take vital signs accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong assisting skills to support the dentist during various procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical coding systems is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
