We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Chairside Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will work chairside assisting the senior dentist in a full range of dental procedures in a relatively fast paced practice. I’m seeking an experienced assistant who works well with others and takes pride in her professionalism but enjoys humor and working in a fun environment. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while maintaining proper safety standards.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories, and documenting treatment details accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures, providing reassurance and support as needed.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality of medical documentation.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records efficiently.
- Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge to effectively communicate with team members and patients.
Skills
- Extensive experience with dental assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry for increased efficiency.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate record keeping and documentation.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices confidently.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology related to general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable for creating a friendly atmosphere for children.
- Competence in medical coding and documentation practices relevant to dental procedures and insurance billing processes.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists while ensuring patient comfort at all times.
