Job Summary
- 2.1 a. Assesses unit needs and available resources for current and incoming shifts.
- b. Facilitate patient care needs.
- c. Assesses, implements and evaluates quality of care.
- d. Mentors and precepts to all Nursing Staff including trainees and students.
- e. Direct patient care by working as a team leader and a team member.
- f. Act on behalf of or in the absence of Head Nurse.
Duties and Responsibilities
- 3.1 Uphold philosophy, mission, vision, goals and objectives of the Nursing Department and PSMMC.
- 3.2 Identify patient acuity and determine nursing care needs and availability of staff.
- 3.3 Establish partnership, facilitating team building and works collaboratively with other healthcare team members.
- 3.4 Promote staff development through education and training based on identified needs.
- 3.5 Ensure that standards of care, policies and procedures are effectively and safely practices.
- 3.6 Participates in the clinical audits and quality improvement projects.
- 3.7 Support and guides pull-out staff allocated to the area.
- 3.8 Establish healthy and safe working environment.
- 3.9 Participate in direct patient-care working as a team member and promote highest standards of evidence-based practice.
- 3.10 Raise the morale of the nursing team by: Recognize and value contributions from the individual within the ward and provide clinical support.
- 3.11 Ensure patients and staff confidentiality.
- 3.12 Facilitate in ordering, following, receiving and distribution of supplies and collaboration in inventories.
- 3.13 Coordinate patient admission, transfer and discharge arrangement.
- 3.14 Arrange for continuing outpatient services and home care referral as needed.
- 3.15 Actively participate in the orientation, promotion and retention of staff: Supervises trainees and student nurses
- 3.16 Observe and respect patients' Bill of Rights and responsibilities.
- 3.17 Support Saudization Nursing Development Program (SNDP).
- 3.18 Practices culture of safety.
- 3.19 Report wrong practice of nursing care to his / her chain of command.
- 3.20 Lead in performance improvement activities and utilizes data to develop action for improvement, evaluation and documentation of outcomes.
- 3.21 Assume responsibility within the scope of practice.
- 3.22 Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employees knowledge, skills and abilities.
Education / Licensure
- 4.1 Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from accredited school or University.
- 4.2 Essential: Current License of practice from country of origin with current Saudi Council Registration as Specialist.
- 4.3 Desirable: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- 4.4 Desirable: Current License of practice from country of origin with current Saudi Council Registration as a Senior Specialist.
Professional Experience
- 5.1 Essential: For Bachelor's Degree holder: Minimum of five (5) years post registration experience, at least two (2) years must be spent in the relevant specialty.
- For Master's Degree holder: Two (2) years' experience.
- 5.2 Essential: Successfully completes generic and unit specific competencies in the designated area of specialty.
Specialized Knowledge
- 6.1 Essential: Knowledge related to the specialty and licensure.
- 6.2 Desirable: Evidence of skills leadership.
Personal Qualities
- 7.1 Essential: Professional, friendly and ward demeanor with effective collaborative communication skills.
- 7.2 Desirable: Ability to change focus given added demands and / or new responsibilities.
