CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELOR - Full Time (CADC and LCPC/LCSW)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chemical Dependency Counselor to join our team in a full-time capacity. The ideal candidate will possess licensure as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and hold credentials such as Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). This role involves providing expert clinical counseling, conducting assessments, and facilitating recovery programs for individuals battling substance use disorders. The counselor will utilize evidence-based practices to support patients’ mental health and addiction recovery within a compassionate, structured environment.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine individual treatment needs.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based approaches such as psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and behavioral therapy.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health stabilization, and relapse prevention.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute behavioral health issues effectively.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless case management and continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, home, and community settings.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medical records using appropriate ICD coding standards (ICD-9/ICD-10).
  • Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts to evaluate treatment outcomes and improve clinical practices.
  • Provide family counseling sessions when appropriate to support child & family dynamics during recovery processes.
  • Manage crisis situations with professionalism while ensuring patient safety through crisis management protocols.
  • Stay current with developments in addiction medicine, behavioral health treatments, and relevant medical terminology to enhance clinical effectiveness.

Experience

Education: Masters degree in Social Work or Psychology required.

Experience: Experience working in acute care, inpatient or residential SUD settings. Previous leadership and supervisory experience.

Licensure: LCPC, LCSW in addition to CADC. (Active and in good standing).

Knowledge: Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria and level of care determinations, sxperience with clinical documentation and EMR systems, strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, ability to manage complex, high-acuity patient cases, effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership, training and supervisory capabilities, ability to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities, commitment to patient centered and harm reduction approaches.

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
