Chemical Lab Assistant

Job Purpose

At Elite Metal Finishing East, the Chemical Lab Assistant is a critical part of the Chemical Laboratory and is responsible for maintaining process tanks and other administrative duties.

The Chem Lab Assistant supports Elite Metal Finishing quality initiatives, which includes Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, and Quality Management System and drives continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Maintain process tanks

· Perform daily pH calibrations

· Maintain cleanliness of laboratory and chemical storages

· Assist in analyzing process tank solutions

· Test rinse tanks for conductivity and pH

· Maintain daily logs

· Perform daily etch rates

· Support laboratory in minor data entry

· Manage dump and make-up of process tanks

· Make chemical additions to process tanks

· Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

· High School Diploma, equivalency or similar work experience accepted

· Work experience in Laboratory environment preferred but not required

· Must be comfortable working with and around chemicals

· Must be able to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions in English

· Must be able to follow safety guidelines

· Must be forklift certified (we will train if necessary)

· Must be able to operate Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Key Accountabilities

· Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions

· Ability to communicate and work with others in a courteous and professional manner

· Must be organized and practice good housekeeping daily

Physical Requirements

· Physical Demand ADA-Compliant

· Stand or Sit Stationary position; Must be able to remain in both stationary positions 50%

· Walk Move - The person in this position needs to constantly move about inside the office and / or production area, berms, and both even and uneven grounds.

· Use hands/fingers to handle or feel - operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position operates laser engrave parts and equipment

· Talk/hear Communicate - Converse - The person in this position frequently communicates with Lab, Production and QA personnel. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

· See - detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess tanks and chemicals

· Carry, lift, move, transport, position, install, remove, parts up to 40 pounds above and below waist level

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
