Oneida Professional Services (OPS) is actively seeking a highly motivated, full-time Chemist in Oklahoma City, OK. (This is an on-site position)



Location: Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI)
Aerospace Medical Research & Safety Assurance Division in Oklahoma City, OK

  • This position is contingent on the award of a federal contract.

Compensation: $29.00/ Hour

Position Overview

The Chemist (Intermediate) supports the Forensic Sciences Section by conducting complex chemical and toxicological analyses of biological specimens associated with aviation safety investigations, accident response, and research activities. This role performs advanced forensic analytical procedures, contributes to method development for detecting emerging drugs, and supports laboratory quality assurance and accreditation functions. The individual works both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary scientific team in a high-compliance, ISO-accredited environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex and repetitive forensic chemical analyses of biological specimens (including postmortem fluids and tissues) in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct instrument-based analytical testing using Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (HPLC/MS), UV/VIS Spectrophotometry, and Immunoassay platforms.
  • Accurately record, verify, and maintain laboratory notebooks and documentation in compliance with SOP and accreditation standards.
  • Support the Laboratory’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control program and assist with ongoing accreditation compliance.
  • Develop new analytical procedures and detection methodologies for novel and emerging drugs of forensic relevance.
  • Conduct research to assess options for new laboratory instrumentation and technological upgrades.
  • Maintain chemical and supply inventory in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments in compliance with ISO and ABFT (American Board of Forensic Toxicology) standards.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and audit-ready laboratory environment.
  • Perform statistical analysis of laboratory testing results.
  • Conduct independent scientific research with minimal supervision to advance forensic testing capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Forensic Science, or a closely related scientific discipline from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required with a Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required with a Master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience using analytical instrumentation in a forensic, toxicology, clinical, or research laboratory setting.
  • Experience working in a regulated or accredited laboratory environment (ISO/ABFT) preferred.
  • Strong data integrity, documentation, and scientific reporting skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
