Chemist

1. Ensures sampling requirements for raw and treated water are completed on an hourly and weekly basis according to State and federal regulations.

2. Maintains a proficient laboratory service for analysis and record keeping of source, process, treated and distribution waters, including but not limited to assistance with samples from water main installations, investigative samples, and system leaks.

3. Ensures quality control of all laboratory procedures while adhering to the Standard Methods for Examination of Water/Wastewater, EPA methods for chemical analyses.

4. Ensures chemical testing requirements on samples of treated water and water in treatment process are completed according to State and federal regulations.

5. Interprets results of chemical testing and makes proper chemical feed adjustments when needed to comply with State and federal regulations.

6. Records accurate testing data during analysis.

7. Maintains a working knowledge of the most recent State and Federal drinking water regulations and reporting requirements.

8. Orders supplies and maintains laboratory per requirements of the State lab certification. 9. Performs any annual proficiency testing required for laboratory compliance.

10. Regularly assists with maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment and inline analyzers within the treatment process.

11. Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory safety.

12. Ensures all equipment is kept clean and properly sterilized at all times.

13. Orders chemical reagents used for testing and treatment of water.

14. Assists with drafting S.O.P.’s for the sampling and analysis of source, process, treated, and distribution waters.

15. Monitors Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition systems for water usage and storage as well as chemical balance.

16. Ensures chemicals are stored in properly marked containers and according to manufacturer recommendations.

17. Maintains records of equipment, supplies used and prepares related reports.

18. Provides effective and efficient customer service and promotes and maintains responsive community and working relations.
