Summary:
-
Evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances for a polymer research facility
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Maintenance, data interpretation, and report writing for unknowns evaluated using GCMS, LCMS, and/or FTIR
-
Day-to-day maintenance of equipment and method development
-
Other duties may be assigned

Independently practices applying principles in the discipline of competency
-
Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and work design

Works under general supervision

Supports field assignments as required

A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected
Qualifications:
-
PhD degree or higher
-
Minimum of 10 years' experience in the industry or in a related field, or approval by the Program Director
Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos

Ability to write correspondence

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations

Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
Computer Skills:

Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment
Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form
