Job Title: Chemist III

Location : Cincinnati, OH

Pay Range: $20.86 - $49.24/Hr


Top 3 Skills:

  • Polymer rheology
  • Thermal and solution chromatography (DSC, TGA, DMA, Rheometer, CEF, GPC)
  • Chemistry or Material Science or Chemical Engineering with a PhD required
  • 2-5 Years of experience, or more
  • Site has 65 researchers working closely together; diverse group
  • Able to work independently on customer compliance and method development

Summary:

  • Evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances for a polymer research facility


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, data interpretation, and report writing for unknowns evaluated using GCMS, LCMS, and/or FTIR
  • Day-to-day maintenance of equipment and method development
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Independently practices applying principles in the discipline of competency
  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and work design
  • Works under general supervision
  • Supports field assignments as required
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected


Qualifications:

  • PhD degree or higher
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the industry or in a related field, or approval by the Program Director


Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees


Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis


Computer Skills:

  • Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment


Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations


Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to focus


Work Environment:

  • May periodically be required to travel to client job-sites, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electric shock
  • Noise level can be loud to moderate depending on assignment
