Chess Instructor

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Instructor to teach the game of chess within a nursing home community.

The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for residents. This individual will teach the fundamentals of chess in a way that promotes cognitive stimulation, social connection, and enjoyment. This role requires effective classroom management skills and the ability to communicate concepts clearly to ensure residents understanding and engagement.

Duties

• Lead engaging chess sessions that create a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all residents.
• Teach the fundamentals of chess clearly while adapting instruction to varying experience levels and cognitive abilities.
• Provide individualized support and encouragement to residents who may need additional assistance.
• Promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and a sense of community through structured gameplay.

Requirements

• Knows how to play chess.
• A passion for chess, education, and a commitment to student success.
• Strong verbal communication skills, to effectively convey information.
• Ability to create an inclusive environment that supports all learners.
• Experience in tutoring or providing group instruction is a plus.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 5 per week
