Chief Accountant

Role Overview

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations at Nova, ensuring full IFRS compliance, project cost control, and adherence to UAE VAT and Corporate Tax laws. This position is designed as a leadership-track role — the selected candidate will be evaluated for promotion to Chief Accountant within six months based on performance, accuracy, and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage day-to-day accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, payroll, project accounting).

· Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial reports in compliance with IFRS and Group standards.

· Oversee project-level cost control, WIP tracking, and margin analysis.

· Ensure full compliance with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations; prepare and file returns.

· Maintain cash flow forecasts, bank reconciliations, and intercompany accounts.

· Support the Group finance department on financial reporting, budgeting, and project performance reviews.

· Coordinate with auditors, consultants and tax agents to ensure readiness and transparency.

· Enforce internal controls and the Delegation of Authority (DoA) across all accounting functions.

· Supervise junior accountants, review their work, and drive accuracy and timeliness.

· Demonstrate leadership readiness for elevation to Chief Accountant responsibilities.

Promotion Criteria (within 6 months)

· Timely and accurate monthly closings with zero audit qualifications.

· Effective implementation of cost control and reporting discipline across projects.

· Clear evidence of initiative, ownership, and leadership within the finance team.

· Alignment with group policies, deadlines, and reporting standards.

Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Commerce (master’s preferred).

· Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred.

· 5–10 years of progressive experience,

· Strong understanding of IFRS, project accounting, and construction revenue recognition (IFRS 15).

· In-depth knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax compliance.

· ERP proficiency (Oracle, SAP, Odoo, or Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills.

· Strong communication and leadership potential.

· Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
