Chief Accountant

Job Title: Chief Accountant / Senior Accountant

Report to: Head of department

Location: Dubai, UAE

Job Summary: The Chief / Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing accounting & book keeping for the organization, ensuring correctness, accuracy, timely updating and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role is primarily to ensure accurate and timely updating & financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage day-to-day operations in the accounting department.
• Ensure timely updating with accuracy & correctness in reporting, including monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements and other reporting as required.
• Oversee AR, AP, all reconciliations, payroll, accruals & amortizations etc.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures with controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best industry practices.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and tax filings.
• Conduct scrutiny, reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with VAT and other tax regulations.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
• Coordinate and complete annual audits.

Qualifications:

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA).
• Professional accounting certification / qualification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior role, preferably within the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, Power Query / Power BI.
• Analytical & problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with VAT and knowledge about corporate tax in the UAE.
• Familiarity with financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
