The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) at Heartland Alliance Health is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and operations. This role provides leadership in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounting, and compliance, ensuring sound financial management and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
The CFO serves as a key advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The position manages relationships with external financial partners, vendors, and auditors, and ensures the organization’s financial practices support its mission and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
Ensure alignment of financial strategies with organizational goals and expansion initiatives.
Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close.
Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare financial statements, dashboards, and executive-level presentations to support strategic decision-making.
Oversee financial relationships with external vendors, service providers, and financial institutions.
Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure services are delivered within agreed financial parameters.
Evaluate vendor performance against financial KPIs and initiate corrective actions as needed.
Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, including GAAP, federal and state tax laws, and grant requirements.
Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect the organization’s assets.
Develop and maintain internal controls and policies to safeguard organizational resources.
Coordinate audits, reviews, and financial examinations, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors.
Provide leadership on financial strategy, capital planning, and investment decisions.
Stay informed on emerging financial regulations, best practices, and trends to enhance financial performance.
Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting to support operational efficiency.
Support the organization’s mission and strategic goals through financial insights and leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned that align with the CFO role and organizational priorities.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
Minimum of 7–10 years of senior financial leadership experience in healthcare, non-profit, or complex organizations.
Proven expertise in financial planning, accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
Strong understanding of risk management, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
Experience with vendor financial management, audits, and strategic financial partnerships.
Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
