Role Overview
An established industrial manufacturing organization operating in a high-volume production environment is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its finance function and act as a strategic partner to senior management and shareholders. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on strengthening financial governance, improving cash flow predictability, and supporting sustainable business growth in a complex operating environment.
The CFO will bridge operational performance and financial strategy, ensuring strong controls, accurate reporting, and data-driven decision-making aligned with production realities.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Commercial Finance
- Partner with executive leadership and the board on financial strategy and capital allocation
- Translate operational and production data into actionable financial insights
- Support pricing strategies, procurement decisions, and cost optimization initiatives
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes
- Ensure accurate preparation of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Maintain compliance with IFRS and statutory reporting requirements
- Ensure audit readiness and strong financial documentation
Working Capital & Treasury
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital cycles
- Optimize inventory, receivables, and payables management
- Oversee banking relationships, credit facilities, and trade finance arrangements
Cost Control & Operations Finance
- Implement robust costing frameworks for high-volume manufacturing
- Monitor unit economics and identify margin improvement opportunities
- Work closely with production and operations teams to improve efficiency and yield
Governance, Risk & Controls
- Strengthen internal controls and financial governance frameworks
- Manage financial, regulatory, FX, and operational risks
- Oversee tax, payroll, insurance, and compliance matters
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop the finance team across accounting, costing, treasury, and payroll
- Drive process improvements, systems enhancement, and ERP optimization
- Build a disciplined, execution-focused finance function
Candidate ProfileEssential Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
- Previous experience as CFO, Finance Director, or Senior Finance Leader
- Strong background in manufacturing, FMCG, packaging, commodities, or industrial operations
- Proven experience working in Africa or emerging markets
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Professional certification CPA / ACCA / CIMA / CA (mandatory)
- MBA or advanced finance qualification is an advantage
