Chief Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Chief Mechanic to lead our maintenance team and oversee the inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance of company vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of mechanics and maintenance staff
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
• Perform and oversee repairs, servicing, and preventive maintenance
• Ensure all vehicles/equipment are operating safely and efficiently
• Maintain maintenance schedules and service records
• Monitor inventory of spare parts, tools, and workshop supplies
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and industry regulations
• Train and mentor junior mechanics and technicians
• Coordinate with management regarding maintenance planning and equipment needs
• Respond to emergency breakdowns when required

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Chief Mechanic, Senior Mechanic, or similar leadership role
• Strong knowledge of diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics
• Ability to lead and manage a maintenance team
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and communication abilities
• Technical certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Technology preferred
• Valid driving license preferred
