Position Overview

The Chief Medical Officer provides clinical leadership, medical oversight, and strategic direction across all departments. The role ensures that patient care meets the highest standards of quality and safety, while advancing integrated care among medical, dental, behavioral health, and community health services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct clinical strategy and operations across the health center
  • Supervise and support physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants
  • Promote evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and quality improvement
  • Oversee clinical compliance with state, federal, and tribal health regulations
  • Lead recruitment, credentialing, privileging, and staff performance reviews
  • Represent medical staff at the executive and board level
  • Support grant development, public health initiatives, and community outreach

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Board Certification in a recognized specialty
  • Active or eligible for a California medical license
  • 5+ years of clinical experience; 3+ years of medical leadership or administration
  • Experience in primary care, community health, or tribal health preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and data-driven care
