The Chief Nurse is a senior nursing leadership position responsible for the overall management, supervision, and development of nursing services within a licensed healthcare facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The role ensures compliance with NHRA standards, hospital policies, and international best practices to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Leadership & Governance:
- Lead and oversee all nursing services across inpatient, outpatient, and critical care units
- Ensure nursing practice complies with NHRA regulations, policies, and licensing standards
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
- Ensure adherence to patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement standards
Management & Operations:
- Supervise Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and all nursing staff
- Plan staffing levels, shift allocation, and workforce optimization
- Oversee nursing operations to ensure efficiency and continuity of care
- Participate in hospital executive and clinical governance meetings
Quality Assurance & Compliance (NHRA Focus):
- Ensure full compliance with NHRA licensing, accreditation, and inspection requirements
- Lead audits, clinical quality indicators, and patient safety initiatives
- Support preparation for regulatory inspections and accreditation (e.g., NHRA, JCI if applicable)
- Implement corrective actions based on audit findings
Training & Professional Development:
- Lead continuous education and competency development programs for nursing staff
- Ensure orientation and training comply with NHRA professional development requirements
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and clinical excellence
Coordination & Communication:
- Act as the key liaison between nursing staff and hospital administration
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams for patient care delivery
- Address staff performance issues, patient concerns, and operational challenges
Qualifications & Requirements (NHRA – Bahrain):
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN or equivalent) from a recognized institution
- Master’s degree in Nursing Administration / Healthcare Management (preferred or required for senior posts)
- Valid NHRA Registered Nurse license (Bahrain)
- Minimum 8–12 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 3–5 years in senior leadership/management roles
- Prior experience as Nurse Manager, Nursing Superintendent, or Head Nurse is essential
- Experience in NHRA-accredited healthcare facilities preferred
Skills & Competencies:

- Ability to manage audits, inspections, and accreditation processes
