Job Summary
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, management, and overall performance of nursing services within an acute care hospital. The CNO ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment with the hospital’s mission and objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Develop and implement nursing strategies aligned with the hospital’s vision and growth plans
- Lead nursing operations across all departments in an acute care setting
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and clinical excellence
- Participate in executive leadership decision-making and hospital governance
Clinical Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with standards set by Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and international accreditation bodies (e.g., JCI)
- Establish and monitor clinical policies, procedures, and best practices
- Oversee infection control, risk management, and patient safety initiatives
Operational Management
- Manage nursing workforce planning, staffing models, and resource allocation
- Oversee departmental budgets, cost control, and operational efficiency
- Ensure optimal patient flow and bed management in acute care services
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop nursing leaders and staff
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and professional development
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and performance management strategies
Quality & Patient Experience
- Monitor and improve patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes
- Implement evidence-based practices and quality assurance programs
- Lead accreditation and audit processes
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or MBA preferred)
- Valid license or eligibility from Dubai Health Authority (DHA)
- Minimum 10–15 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within an acute care hospital
- Experience in internationally accredited hospitals (JCI preferred)
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality standards, and clinical governance
