PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
Provides direction, leadership, support, and training to Juvenile Court Officers who carry out the court’s orders with regards to the Court Operations Unit. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief of Staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals; trains Juvenile Court Officers; inputs timesheet data into computer; holds staff meetings. Manages caseload; presents cases in court; staffs cases with Juvenile Court Officers and Judges. Reads and writes Social History reports; prepares reports of performance. Oversees and participates in crisis management; performs interventions; assists with on-call activities. Screens and assigns cases transferred from other counties and states. Writes and practices policies and procedures; attends administrative cabinet meetings. Checks daily detention roster; logs daily client entries on computer; reads and signs termination and dismissal orders. Attends screenings and meetings and reviews and completes dismissal and record seal orders. Implements special projects as directed by Court Administration. Maintains a productive and positive working relationship with all Juvenile Justice stakeholders. Orders, installs, and monitors GPS ankle monitors.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs random drug screens and interviews candidates for employment. Takes departmental vehicles to repair shop. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, or closely related field; supplemented by two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes law enforcement, social work, working with juveniles, and criminology; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as odors, temperature extremes, animals/wildlife, traffic hazards, violence, or disease.
