Position Overview

PVPSA seeks an experienced, mission-driven Chief of Finance and Operations (CFO/COO) to serve as a key strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team. This executive position is responsible for driving organizational excellence across all financial and operational domains and ensuring the agency’s infrastructure and systems effectively support its programs and impact.

The CFO/COO will lead the Finance and Operations Division, overseeing finance, budgeting, contracts and grants administration, business compliance and operations, human resources, and information systems. This role is ideal for a strategic, analytical, and people-centered leader who brings proven executive experience in nonprofit finance and operations and a deep commitment to advancing whole-person wellness in the Pajaro Valley.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Strategy and Oversight

· Serve as the executive leader for PVPSA’s financial strategy, planning, and forecasting.

· Oversee accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and fiscal compliance.

· Provide regular, clear financial analysis to inform executive and board decision-making.

· Lead annual budget development in collaboration with executive leadership.

· Manage cash flow, long-term financial planning, and investment strategies.

· Lead audit preparation and serve as liaison with external auditors and the Board of Directors’ Executive/Finance committee.

· Ensure strong fiscal compliance with contract and grant requirements and oversee all subcontract administration.

Organizational Operations and Infrastructure

· Direct organizational operations to ensure alignment with mission, programmatic goals, and compliance standards.

· Oversee human resources strategy, including policies, compliance, talent development, and culture initiatives.

· Lead cross-departmental operational improvements that strengthen agency performance and efficiency.

· Ensure effective management of administrative systems, including technology, risk management, and facilities.

· Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration across teams.

Leadership and Team Management

· Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team across finance and operations.

· Serve as a core member of the executive team, contributing to agency-wide strategy and decision-making.

· Represent PVPSA in external partnerships and funder relationships related to finance and operations.

· Build the organization’s financial literacy and operational capacity through staff training and mentorship.

Qualifications

· A Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree

(MBA, MPA, etc.) is strongly preferred.

· Minimum 5–7 years of executive-level leadership experience in nonprofit finance and operations, preferably with multi-million-dollar budgets and diverse funding sources.

· Demonstrated ability to lead finance, operations, HR, and IT functions in a mission-driven environment.

· Expertise in nonprofit compliance, audit readiness, and government grants management.

· Exceptional strategic thinking, systems-building, and organizational development skills.

· Experience managing cross-functional teams and fostering a values-aligned organizational culture.

· High emotional intelligence, integrity, adaptability, and commitment to equity and community well-being.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,491.25 per year
