JOB OPPORTUNITY: CHIEF OF POLICE

Village of Lodi, Ohio

The Village of Lodi is seeking an experienced, proactive, and community-oriented law enforcement professional to lead our Police Department. Under the direction of the Mayor, the Chief of Police is responsible for the overall planning, management, and operation of the department, ensuring the safety and security of the village residents and visitors.

Position Summary:
The Chief of Police will oversee all operations, including patrol, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement, and training. The ideal candidate must be a hands-on leader committed to community-oriented policing, fostering positive relationships, and ensuring high ethical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the law enforcement activities of the Village.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate all police personnel.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and safety measures in accordance with Ohio Revised Code.
  • Prepare and manage the annual department budget in conjunction with the Mayor and Village Fiscal Officer.
  • Actively engage with the community, attending village council meetings, and acting as a liaison between the police department and the public.
  • Perform patrol duties and respond to calls for service as necessary to provide optimum effectiveness.
  • Ensure all laws, state statutes, and village ordinances are enforced.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification: Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of full-time law enforcement experience.
  • Education: High school diploma/GED required; Associate/Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice or related field a plus.
  • Requirements: Valid Ohio Driver’s License and successful completion of background checks, polygraph, psychological, and medical/drug screenings specific to the position will be required of final candidate or candidates.

Pay: $101,664.02 per year
