Chief Operating Officer

Job Overview

Village to Village Network (VtVN) is a national, membership-based 501c3 nonprofit organization that brings Villages together to share best practices for enabling older adults to live independent, healthy, purposeful lives with connections to their communities. The Network provides expert guidance, resources and support to help communities establish and maintain thriving Villages, and we champion the Village model at state and national levels as a best practice for healthy, vibrant aging. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for developing and leading VtVN’s operating priorities forward, from current acute needs to long-range planning to grow the role and impact of the organization across the country and uplift member Villages. The Chief Operating Officer is a member of the Operations Department, collaborates with internal staff and external stakeholders and consultants, supervises the Operations Director, and reports to VtVN’s Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

With the support of the Technology Committee and external consultants/vendors,

Internal Technology

· Lead technology strategy, roadmap, budget recommendations

· Lead member-facing digital infrastructure improvement

o Lead vendor selection for CRM

o Oversee data migration and implementation new CRM

· Lead website redesign, aligned with Brand revitalization

o Lead vendor selection

o Oversee redesign of:

§ Member Portal [member benefit]

§ Resource Library (clean up/out, organized, searchable, usable/useful to members)

§ Forum(s) (functional, relevant, searchable)

§ National Registry

§ Data Dashboard/Map

§ National Voice (What is a Village, Who We Are, National Advocacy)

§ Research (Census, PCORI)

§ News/Blog (“Best of”, local village spotlight, newsletter archive, In the News)

§ Calendar of Events

· Coordinate with Communications (Committee and staff implementation)

o Newsletter (service providers, formatting, reporting)

o Text notification/reminder(s)

o Archive/Library for video(s) and webinar(s)

o Social Media integration(s)

o National Village Movement (in coordination with Comms)

§ National Voice

§ Organized Structure

§ National Advocacy

§ National News (local spotlights)

· Review current technology uses

o Google

o Zoom

o Canva

o Hootsuite

· Review cybersecurity and risk, including AI policy

External Technology

· Evaluate options to improve Village CRM solutions

o Solutions/options for Network members (tech guides, best practices, regular tech updates/webinars)

Supervision

· Manage Operations Director in implementation

· Serve as point person for Management Company, if applicable

Communications Leadership

With the support of the Communications Committee and external consultants,

Branding

· Lead development of updated brand strategy and visual identity and rollout

o Build out launch campaign timeline for implementation

Social Media

· Lead development of social media strategy/content approach

o Oversee sustainable implementation

Promotional Videos

· Lead production of polished 1–5 minute promotional videos introducing VtVN's mission, targeting specific audiences, and the revitalized brand.

o Current Village leaders and potential future Village leaders

o Community-based organization partners (health systems, faith communities, other aging-sector agencies)

o Funders and donors — both individuals and foundations

o Municipal entities and tangential organizations with potential funding or resources

o Corporate sponsors

o General public audience - accessible language and brand understanding for those looking to answer the questions “What is a Village?”

Fundraising Campaign Concepts

· Concepts and creative direction for a fundraising campaign (e.g., year-end appeal, Giving Tuesday, major donor materials) aligned with the new brand voice

· Donor-facing collateral and messaging

Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years of applicable experience

· Entrepreneurial spirit, initiative, start-up mentality

· Passion for the mission, sensitivity to the needs of older adults

· Knowledge of technology and marketing strategy

· Proven leadership and relationship building skills

· Success in growing toward operational excellence

· Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

· Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills

· Customer service skills

· High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

· Ability to work independently and as a team

· Nonprofit experience and knowledge, and volunteer management a plus

· Bachelor’s degree or higher

· Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule

Compensation

This is a full-time position at approximately 40-45 hours per week. The base salary range is $85,000 - $100,000 per year depending on qualifications and relevant years of experience. Benefits package includes generous paid time off (PTO) including ten paid holidays. We offer a flexible work environment with the ability to work remotely.
