Chief Operating Officer — Job Description

Position summary
Lead day‑to‑day operations and scale business execution to deliver on strategic objectives, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. Partner with the CEO and executive team to translate strategy into measurable plans across functions (product, engineering, go‑to‑market, finance, HR, and operations).

Key responsibilities

  • Execute strategy: convert executive and board priorities into operational plans, OKRs, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead cross‑functional operations: oversee product delivery, engineering execution, customer success, sales operations, supply chain, and business operations to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
  • Build and scale operational processes and systems: standardize workflows, KPIs, playbooks, and runbooks to reduce friction and operational risk.
  • Drive performance management: set targets, monitor dashboards, run regular business reviews, and implement corrective actions to meet financial and operational metrics.
  • Operationalize growth: plan capacity, staffing, and resource allocation to support scaling, market expansion, and new product launches.
  • Oversee financial and commercial operations in partnership with CFO: budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization, pricing execution, and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Improve customer outcomes: own service delivery, SLAs, customer onboarding, escalation management, and continuous improvement for Net Promoter Score and retention.
  • Lead talent and organizational design: work with HR to recruit, develop, and retain high‑performing teams; design org structures and career ladders.
  • Manage strategic programs and cross‑functional initiatives: M&A integration, international expansion, major transformations, and operational change management.
  • Ensure operational compliance and risk management: implement controls, business continuity, and vendor management policies.
  • Drive operational excellence through technology and automation: champion tooling, data platforms, and process automation to reduce manual work and scale operations.
  • Represent operations to the board and investors: prepare board materials, operational metrics, and progress updates.
  • Foster company culture and leadership alignment: model values, enable collaboration, and act as a trusted partner to the CEO.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive operational leadership with at least 5 years in a senior/executive operations role (VP/Head of Ops/COO).
  • Proven track record scaling companies or divisions, improving operational efficiency, and delivering measurable results.
  • Strong program and change management skills with experience leading cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Data‑driven decision making and fluent with KPIs, dashboards, and operational analytics.
  • Experience partnering with finance on forecasting, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; experience reporting to boards and investors.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to prioritize tradeoffs in fast‑moving environments.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in the company’s industry (SaaS, fintech, healthcare, manufacturing, consumer).
  • Prior experience with M&A integration, international scale, or operating in regulated industries.
  • Technical fluency with product development and engineering processes (Agile, DevOps) for technology companies.
  • Familiarity with supply chain, manufacturing, or fulfillment operations for product companies.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: QAR261.20 - QAR361.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
