The position is responsible all duties and responsibilities of the Probations Section to include performing administrative functions, monitoring and managing cash reports, preparing budget, and performing related clerical tasks. This position is responsible for supervision of the Probation Officer in the section. This position reports directly to Town Manager or his designee.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are normal for this position. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job. Other duties may be required and assigned. Administers the daily operations of the Probation Division within the Town of Smyrna General Sessions Court. Manages assigned staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, evaluating performance, interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures, resolving issues, making hiring decisions, and administering disciplinary action as required. Conducts pre-trial diversion investigations and prepares recommendations for admissions to the pre-trial diversion program (including making assessments for restitution). Schedules and conducts interviews for the purpose of assessing a probationer's risks and needs. Informs, explains and advises probationers on the terms and conditions of probation, including office visits, financial payments, education/employment stipulations, treatment programs, curfews and other special conditions ordered by the Court. Supervises division personnel, including selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, recommending termination. Monitors probationers' fines, fees and related court costs and insures that any/all financial obligations are complied with or have been satisfied. Monitors chemical dependency and mental health assessments of probationers as ordered by the Court. Arranges for installation and supervision of ignition interlock systems. Supervises probationers' participation in treatment programs and obtains and evaluates provider records. Reports status of compliance and any violations to the Judge. Monitors and/or administers urine and alcohol testing to ensure compliance with court orders. Meets with Judge, Court Clerk, prosecutors and other criminal justice and social service agencies whenever necessary to provide and receive information on Court operations. Maintains confidentiality of information and professional boundaries. Develops new corrective treatment plans consistent with evidence-based practices by professional research, membership in professional organizations and personal contact with others in the field. Develops procedures, programs and policies to assure efficient functioning of probation supervision services. Continually analyzes and evaluates the structure, workload, policies and procedures with respect to probation services and develops revisions as needed. Develops and maintains working partnerships and collaborative endeavors with stakeholders such as law enforcement, and family advocacy and civic organizations. Maintains and fosters a professional and positive work environment. Interacts with offender after sentencing. Assesses and determines offender's reporting schedule and payment schedule. Coordinates community service, such as referral to appropriate agencies to address specific needs, if sentenced. Makes home/work visits to offender, if needed, to monitor compliance. Accepts payments of fines, restitution and costs. Composes necessary documentation to affect issuance of warrants, delinquent reports, if offender violates probation. Issues Failure to Pay and Failure to Report warrant requests to Smyrna Municipal Court. Attends Probation revocation hearings. Gathers information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility. Attends conferences, seminars and workshops for the purpose of maintaining advanced techniques and probation administration and supervision. Monitors and analyzes legislation and legal changes that may impact probation; recommends and implements corresponding changes in divisional operations. Attends or conducts staff and other professional meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and technical or professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve technical or professional skills. Prepares and manages assigned divisional budget. Performs other duties and assists with projects as assigned by the Presiding Judge and/or Town Manager.
