The Role
We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology vision, architecture, and execution of our platform products. This is not a maintenance role—it's a build-and-scale role. You will take our Propriety platform from early traction to mass adoption (100,000+ users) while building the AI/ML capabilities that will differentiate us in the market. You will report directly to the CEO and be a member of the Executive Leadership Team. What You Will Do Platform Leadership • Own the complete technology strategy and roadmap for our platform • Scale the platform from early tration to 100,000+ users • Architect for enterprise-grade performance, security, and reliability • Drive platform from project-based licensing to SaaS subscription model • Build and manage cloud infrastructure for global deployment Product & Engineering • Lead product development from concept to market launch • Build and manage the engineering team • Establish engineering best practices: CI/CD, code review, testing, documentation • Own technical decisions: architecture, technology stack, build vs. buy • Manage technical debt while delivering new features AI/ML Strategy • Define AI/ML roadmap for platform intelligence features • Oversee development of automated classification, predictive analytics, anomaly detection • Build data pipeline architecture for AI model training • Partner with AI Lead to integrate machine learning into platform Innovation & R&D • Identify emerging technologies relevant to digital twins, geospatial, and asset management • Drive innovation initiatives: computer vision, LiDAR processing, IoT integration • Establish partnerships with technology vendors and research institutions • Protect intellectual property through patents and trade secrets Leadership • Build, mentor, and retain a world-class engineering team • Establish engineering culture: ownership, quality, speed, innovation • Manage technology budget and vendor relationships • Represent Geosoft technology to clients, partners, and investors
Requirements
Required Experience • 15+ years in software engineering with 8+ years in leadership roles • Proven track record of building and scaling platforms from thousands to hundreds of thousands of users • Experience as CTO, VP Engineering, or Head of Product at a growth-stage technology company • Deep expertise in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP) at scale • Hands-on experience with: o Modern web technologies (React, Node.js, or similar) o Database architecture (SQL, NoSQL, time-series) o API design and microservices architecture o DevOps and infrastructure as code • Experience building SaaS/subscription products with recurring revenue models • Team building experience: hired and managed engineering teams of 20+ people Preferred Experience • Experience in geospatial, digital twins, or asset management platforms • Background in 3D visualization, point cloud processing, or CAD/BIM • Experience with AI/ML integration into products • Oil & gas or industrial sector domain knowledge • Startup or scale-up environment experience • Experience with investor relations and due diligence from technology perspective Education • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field • MBA or business education is a plus Technical Environment You should be comfortable with (or quickly learn): • Frontend: React, Three.js, WebGL for 3D visualization • Backend: Node.js, Python, microservices • Cloud: AWS (primary), containerization, Kubernetes • Data: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, data lakes • AI/ML: TensorFlow, PyTorch, computer vision libraries • Geospatial: Point cloud processing, GIS, coordinate systems
