The Daycare Assistant Director is a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the Center Director to support the day-to-day operations of the center. This role helps create a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. It blends leadership responsibilities with hands-on involvement, offering meaningful support to both staff and families.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Support & Supervision
Provide encouragement and guidance to staff through assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluations. Help lead team meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture where everyone feels valued.
Curriculum Support
Partner with educators to support the implementation of engaging, age-appropriate programs that promote each child’s development and curiosity.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
Work alongside the Director to maintain all licensing and safety standards, helping ensure the center remains a secure and well-managed environment for children and staff.
Family Communication
Build strong, trusting relationships with families by serving as a supportive point of contact—assisting with conferences, addressing questions or concerns, and sharing updates on children’s progress.
Budget & Finance Assistance
Support the Director with basic financial tasks, including tracking expenses and assisting with budgeting and planning efforts.
Facility Operations
Help maintain a welcoming and well-organized center by coordinating maintenance, monitoring cleanliness, and keeping supplies stocked and ready.
Health & Nutrition Oversight
Assist in promoting children’s well-being by supporting meal planning and helping uphold health, wellness, and illness policies.
Enrollment & Outreach
Welcome new families by assisting with tours and orientations, and contribute to outreach and marketing efforts that showcase the center’s strengths.
Conflict Resolution
Approach challenges with care and professionalism, helping to resolve concerns among staff, families, or children in a respectful and solution-focused manner.
Documentation & Reporting
Support accurate and timely record-keeping for children and staff, ensuring all required documentation is completed and maintained.
The Assistant Director serves as a trusted partner to the Center Director and a supportive presence for the entire center community. This role requires flexibility, strong leadership, and a genuine passion for early childhood education. Responsibilities may evolve based on the needs of the center.
