Child Care Assistant Teacher

Freedom Montessori School (FMS) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Teacher to support our Primary and Pre Primary Age programs.

FMS offers an authentic Montessori designed to inspire a child’s creativity. We are seeking qualified, enthusiastic and nurturing individuals that will be responsible for helping the lead teacher in all classroom work and instructions . You will be responsible to support the classroom by helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently and respect themselves and others.

The assistant teacher will provide and maintain a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate program in accordance to all relevant child care policies, procedures, and county regulations. The Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing center-directed program instruction.

Required Skills/Experience

• High School or higher level of education
• At least two years of experience with a group of children. Montessori experience a plus.
• Must have a warm supportive, and patient attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families
• Completion of a background check required
• Monday to Friday commitment required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily activities for the program in the classroom and outdoors in coordination with lead teacher.
• Maintain an environment that promotes optimal growth and development of children
• Helps the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently and respect themselves and others
• Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence
• Ensure that children are actively engaged in a safe, organized, stimulating learning environment
• Must have good communication skills
• Able to commute to Chantilly , Five days a week
