The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment for young children while fostering their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. This role involves implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, ensuring compliance with South Carolina childcare regulations, and building positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a warm, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment for children.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote learning and development.
- Foster children's independence, creativity, and problem-solving skills through structured activities and play.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning space in compliance with South Carolina DSS childcare regulations.
- Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Encourage positive behavior through effective classroom management and guidance.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding children's progress, needs, and any concerns.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental assessments.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to create a supportive team environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- South Carolina Early Childhood Credential (ECE Level 1 or higher) is a plus.
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
- Must meet South Carolina DSS licensing requirements, including CPR/First Aid certification and background checks.
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
