Child Care Closing Float Teacher

Job Summary:

Float staff are the staff at KIDZONE that have no assigned room and instead fill in gaps in the schedule as they arise and provide support to other staff members in a variety of ways. Float staff will be responsible for conducting a variety of tasks not always related directly to the supervision of children. The daily schedule of a “Float Staff” may change completely from day to day or remain consistent for a length of time before changing based upon the needs of KIDZONE at that time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Float staff may have supervisory responsibilities of children when assigned to a classroom. This supervision may be overseen by an Assistant Lead or Lead Teacher but may also occur without direct supervision from a supervisor under certain circumstances if the staff member in the role meets requirements for such as laid out in Nebraska Child Care Regulations for Child Care Centers.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Respond promptly and appropriately to directions from classroom staff or supervisor.

· Reports any observed or suspected concerns to the administration.

· Complete all required trainings as assigned.

· Fill in for a specific position for an entire shift.

· Move between classrooms to assist where needed.

· Custodial and cleaning duties as assigned.

· Arrives and is ready to work at scheduled times.

· Build nurturing and positive relationships with students and their families.

· Provide care and instruction to students in a classroom setting.

Non-Essential Duties/Responsibilities

All other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director, including but not limited to:

· If of appropriate age to do so, may transport children using KIDZONE provided vehicles.

· Under the supervision of a lead, provide 1 on 1 care to students if necessary.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to be flexible with a changing daily routine

· Ability and willingness to receive directions.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and carry them out in a timely manner.

· Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.

Minimum Requirements:

· 16 years of age.

· Successful completion of all required background checks.

Physical Requirements:

· Bending, kneeling and/or sitting on the floor with students for extended periods of time.

· Standing for extended periods of time.

· Frequently moving around the work area.

· Lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.75 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 20 per week
