Position Summary
The Child Care Facilitator provides safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for children while their caregivers participate in services, appointments, classes, or programming. This role supports children’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs through structured activities, supervision, and positive engagement, while maintaining a trauma-informed, child-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and care for children of various ages in a group or individual setting
- Create and facilitate age-appropriate activities (play, art, crafts, games, reading, movement, and quiet time)
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming childcare environment
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, toys, surfaces, and shared materials daily and as needed
- Monitor, organize, and assist with inventory of childcare supplies, materials, and donation.
- Restock classrooms and supply areas as needed
- Support children’s emotional regulation using trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate strategies
- Model positive behavior, respectful communication, and healthy boundaries
- Observe and document notable behaviors, concerns, or incidents and report to supervisor
- Follow all safety, health, and sanitation procedures
- Assist with snack distribution and basic hygiene support (handwashing, restroom breaks, etc.)
- Collaborate with Child Advocates, Therapists, and Program Staff as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Participate in required trainings, meetings, and supervision
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience working with children (childcare, school, camp, daycare, or similar setting) preferred
- Basic knowledge of child development and behavior management
- Ability to work calmly and effectively with children who may have experienced trauma
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass background check and required clearances
- Able to work Wednesday evenings
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other language) a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
