Child Care Provider / Early Childhood Lead Teacher

The Young Parents Education Center is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Child Care Provider / Early Childhood Lead Teacher to join our team for the remainder of the school year. This person will provide quality care for young children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment while working closely with staff and families.

This position is temporary through the end of the current school year. If the position is a good fit, there may be an opportunity to return at the end of August for the new school year.

The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with children, is comfortable being active throughout the day, and values building positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and supervision for young children
  • Plan and carry out age-appropriate activities and learning experiences
  • Create a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental needs
  • Follow all licensing rules, health and safety requirements, and center policies
  • Assist with daily routines including meals, diapering, toileting, rest time, and outdoor play

Schedule and Benefits

  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Off on school holidays
  • Most of the summer off
  • Opportunity to return in late August if it is a good fit

Physical Requirements
This position requires someone who is able to actively engage with children throughout the day. Duties include:

  • Frequently lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and getting down on the floor regularly
  • Moving quickly to meet the needs and ensure the safety of children

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must complete facility overview training
  • Must be current on the Montana ECP Practitioner Registry
  • Must have current infant, child, and adult CPR, infant choking response, and pediatric first aid certification, with CPR completed in a hands-on setting
  • Must complete required early childhood teacher orientation
  • Must meet one of the following:
  • Two years of experience in an early childhood program, licensed or registered child care facility, or Head Start, plus 32 hours of ECP training, or
  • Level 2 or higher on the ECP Practitioner Registry
  • Must meet immunization requirements
  • Must pass required background checks
  • Must sign a health attestation

Required Training
Within 30 days of hire, staff must complete:

  • Infant, child, and adult CPR
  • Infant choking response
  • Pediatric first aid
  • Safe sleep / SIDS prevention
  • Shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma prevention

These trainings must be completed before providing unsupervised care. Within 90 days of hire, staff must also complete orientation training in infectious disease prevention, child development, medication administration, food and allergic emergency response, building and premises safety, emergency preparedness and response, hazardous materials handling, transportation safety, and child abuse and neglect prevention and reporting.
