Child Care Substitute Assistant Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking passionate and dedicated substitute Child Care Assistant Teachers to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will support the development and well-being of young children of various ages (infant through school-age) by assisting lead teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster a love of learning, promote social-emotional growth, and support each child's individual needs. This flexible, part-time paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in children's lives while gaining valuable experience in early childhood education. The right candidates must be available to work Monday-Friday on an as-needed basis. Hourly compensation starting at $13.75, based on experience.

Duties

  • Assist lead teachers with implementing daily lesson plans that incorporate literacy, math, and curriculum development tailored to toddler and preschool age groups
  • Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and guiding children through routines and activities
  • Help create an inclusive environment by working effectively with children with diverse needs, including those with different abilities or neurodivergence
  • Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote social skills, creativity, and early childhood development
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
  • Communicate regularly with children, parents, and team members to ensure a collaborative approach to each child's growth and learning

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in a childcare center or preschool is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles, including childhood development theories and behavior management strategies
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning for literacy education, math skills, and classroom activities
  • Experience working with individuals with autism or other abilities is a plus
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating independence in supporting classroom routines
  • Certification or training in First Aid, CPR and/or child development would be a plus
  • Passion for nurturing young learners and supporting their individual growth through engaging teaching methods
