Child Care Teaching Assistant - Here We Grow Daycare

Job Overview
The YWCA Cortland is seeking a caring, reliable, and motivated Child Care Teaching Assistant to support our early childhood program. This role assists the lead teacher in planning and supervising daily activities while helping create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. The position aligns with the mission of the YWCA and follows New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations.

Responsbilities

• Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities
• Supervise children to ensure safety and positive behavior
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment
• Support daily routines such as snack time, transitions, and group activities
• Complete daily records and documentation as needed
• Build positive, supportive relationships with children
• Provide nurturing care and respond to individual needs
• Communicate effectively with families, staff, and supervisors
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
• Assist with program events and activities
• Step into a leadership role when the lead teacher is absent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or at least 18 years of age
• Previous experience working with children preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Dependable, flexible, and positive attitude

Schedule

• Hours typically range between 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• Flexible schedule based on program needs

Pay: $16.60 - $16.80 per hour
