Child Development Aide

*Job Overview*

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Development Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in childcare and experience working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. This role involves providing support, guidance, and intervention to children, ensuring their developmental needs are met in a nurturing environment. The Child Development Specialist will collaborate with families and other professionals to promote positive outcomes for each child.

This position is safety-sensitive in that the individual, without prior notice, may be required to work with confidential information, food, medicine, operate a motor vehicle, or otherwise complete a task in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death to oneself, coworkers, or persons served.

SUMMARY: Carry out activities of assigned classroom at Building Blocks Childcare Center Children's Services program site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 21 years old.

2. Must possess high school diploma or GED.

3. Must have a current driver's license.

4. Ability to work well with others.

5. Must be dependable and understand responsibility for safeguarding and educating consumers.

6. Must show good judgment in handling emergency situations.

7. Have a driving record acceptable to Building Blocks Childcare Center’s insurance company.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Ability to lift to 55 pounds.

2. Time spent sitting, 15%

3. Time spent standing, 70%.

4. Time spent driving vans, up to 15%.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Treat all children and families with dignity and respect.

2. Maintain confidentiality of all Children's Services consumers and families.

3. Greet family members at program site, in the classroom, and at consumers' homes during pick-up and drop-off transportation.

4. Ensure Children's Services are consumer-based.

5. Ensure that classroom is clean and safe.

6. Ensure classroom activities support integration of children with and without disabilities.

7. Complete daily classroom activities, as directed.

8. Complete daily progress reporting of children in classroom.

9. Drive van route, as required, including possible inclement weather days.

10. Complete attendance and transportation logs, as required.

11. Develop and maintain positive working relationship with fellow employees.

12. Attend training required by Building Blocks Childcare Center, contract, and licensure entities, including 15 in-service hours.

13. Attend weekly planning sessions with assigned certified teacher (CT) for child-specific activities and procedures.

14. Participate as part of consumer's interdisciplinary team, as needed.

15. Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $13.50 - $14.00 per hour
