I. SUMMARY OF POSITION’S PURPOSE

Provides supervisory support services to all Cafeteria Managers within the scope of his/her jurisdiction. This position oversees the cafeteria operations of multiple schools.

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – High School Diploma or its equivalent and Management Certification through the state designed program.

2. EXPERIENCE – Minimum of 4 years experience as a Cafeteria Manager

3. SKILLS – Must possess basic managerial skills, in-depth knowledge of school cafeteria operations, intermediate knowledge of basic word processing and spreadsheet applications and good oratorical skills.

4. OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must have the ability to travel within the parish to teach certification courses. Must be physically capable of lifting in excess of 25 pounds on a continual basis. This position requires sustained manual dexterity with close mental/visual attention and the ability to perform job functions in a standing position for a majority of the workday. This position is exposed to environmental extremes, chemicals and fumes on a daily basis. Must be free of any infectious or communicable diseases which, according to the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, poses a risk of transmission through the handling of food.

IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors and supervises Cafeteria Managers in multiple school locations to include: performance evaluations and other human resource directed activities, planning of menus, food testing and sampling, monitoring of food and supply purchases (including receiving/storage/inventory of food service items), monitoring kitchen activities to ensure that a safe and sanitary environment is maintained, assisting managers with their monthly management report, and providing input regarding small and large kitchen equipment purchases.
  • Ensures that all child nutritional programs are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provides basic managerial communications programs to include: assisting in the organization and development of regular meetings and workshops for Managers and Technicians, and teaching Manager Certification courses.
  • Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Schedules and/or attends conferences with parents.
  • Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
Performs other services as required.
