Child Watch Attendant - Southside YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Child Watch Attendant will provide direct supervision of children in a group setting. Provide a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Other department duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Safely supervise a group of children ages eight weeks to ten years of age.
2. Implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
3. Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
4. Maintain positive relationship with parents and other staff.
5. Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
6. Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age of 16
• Previous experience working with children.
• Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
• First Aid, CPR and AED within 30 days of hire.
• Child Abuse Prevent training required within 30 days of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Maintain a safe and positive environment.
• Supervise children ages 8 weeks to 10 years individually and in small groups.
• Maintain effective and cooperative relationships with co-workers, parents and children.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from participants, members, staff, administration or the general public.
• HOURS: Must be flexible.
  • 24-hour notice required if calling out for shift and you are responsible for getting your own sub.
  • Availability must be turned in by the 15th of each month to the Director- Membership & Wellness.
